Installing Sod

Laying the Rolls

Sod should be laid with the seams staggered (similar to brick laying) to achieve uniform development as it grows. Trimming the rolls can be accomplished with a sharp knife or shears to match the edges and trim around objects such as sidewalks and landscape features.

Watering

Water sod immediately after laying, then continue watering once or, when temperatures are hot, twice a day for the first two weeks or until it begins to take root. Use enough water to wet through the sod (the soil underneath should be wet by checking under the roll). As the sod takes root, gradually water deeper and slowly decrease the frequency to promote root growth.
